Chapter Twenty-Seven

Everybody got out of the cars and went their separate ways with no plan in mind. Nothing better than swinging by the seat of your pants.

Suit and Chandler took off around back. There was a park behind Bobby’s apartment. She just figured it was a love shack where he could take his whores, play poker, and have meetings with mobsters. Couldn’t take a whore home when you had a wife and kids. Chandler could imagine the lies of having to work late and the commute being quicker to work the next morning after a late night at the office. What a jerk. She’d grown up with lies; a mother who brought home a different man every night. For years Chandler had wondered why her mother loved them more. Trying to win an alcoholic mother over is a task too great for any child; thus, they bear the burden of never measuring up. One day, Chandler just quit caring. Aunt Thelma had more love for her than any mother could ever have. She thanked God she’d latched on to her aunt’s love; it had taken her through her darkest days.

Chandler looked down at Suit and put her finger to her lips as a signal for him to be quiet. He seemed to understand. Smart dog. She went up to the small wooden fence that led up to a tiny back yard and a back patio door. The gate was unlocked. The patio door wasn’t. No such luck. The blinds were closed, but there was a huge slit where she could see in. Bobby was seated on the couch in his underwear watching TMZ. He looked like he was glued to the screen and Chandler wondered if the pics she’d sold them had been released. Perfect timing. Those pics going public would shake him up, and people made mistakes when they got exposed for who and what they really were. So much for your untarnished little image, Bobby boy.

Suit sniffed around, walked around in a few circles, and took a huge dump on Bobby’s back patio. Served him right. Chandler winced when Bobby scratched his balls and yawned. She jumped when he lurched forward cussing at the TV. When she cupped her hands around the glass in an effort to get a better view, he must have seen her. He jumped up, slamming open the patio door, and he went air born when he stepped in the pile of steaming dog crap. Chandler took off running. Outrunning Bobby wasn’t hard with Suit dragging her through the park. This was even better than she’d imagined.

Roman, Nitro, and Judy were already around front with vehicles started, and Suit jumped in the backseat of the Hummer like a trained pro. This whole PI gig was going to work out well for him.

“What happened?” Roman asked from the driver’s seat, taking a right-hand turn on a dime.

“Watch it! I’ve heard these things flip easy. Suit left him a present and Bobby slipped and fell in it.
